11 years of Mr. and Mrs. Karthik: Some Facts about the Lovely Couple.

Today, Karthik and Ambika are celebrating their 11th wedding anniversary. They got married on 12th July, 2006 in Tirupati. Here are some facts you may want to know about the lovely couple

Karthik met his wife Ambika during a concert in Malaysia. She was a jazz dancer with RAACK Academy of Dance. They remained friends for a year and a half before they “arranged” their marriage the traditional way, with the consent of their parents, matching horoscopes and all. Today, the couple has two children: Kadambari and Nandan.

Ambika is a very cheerful and balanced person. She does not make it a big deal that Karthik is an eminent singer. Karthik says, "In fact, I don’t think she’s asked me to sing a song for her even once. But I love her that way.” She acts as a leveller whenever Karthik goes through an emotional roller coaster. She is firmly grounded and brings him to terra firma.

Ambika has contributed immensely to his classy wardrobe collection. Karthik has even dedicated an award to her, where he was chosen as the most stylish singer in the industry

Ambika's favourite Karthik song is Pinju Mazhai Saral from Varnajalam Listen She's also fond of Behne De from Raavan.

The focus should be on Karthik's work rather than his looks or family

For the past 1-2 years, I've been asked by many a fan the same question(s), “Have you seen Karthik's son? Can you send me his photo if you have one?”. For which I reply, “ Trust me. I don't have a single photo of even Karthik”. Fans who don't share their own pictures on Facebook due to a privacy concern are asking this question. Mind you! Over the years, I've seen fans complaining more about “OMG Is he losing his hair?” and less about “Why isn't Karthik singing a Hindi song?”. (And finally when he got a nice hairdo, some were of the opinion that he shouldn't have done that!) His pictures getting 10X likes than his amazing singing videos hurts my little soul. My focus has always been on his singing. Call me strange. But I'm least bothered about his family or his looks. “Will Mr. A R Rahman give a song for Karthik in his upcoming album” has been my only worry! I've been a fan ever since I heard his “Girlfriend” song and never bothered...
