Karthik wins record-breaking 6th Filmfare; the most by a male playback singer from South



Karthik has won his 6th Best Playback Singer Filmfare Award for "Yellipoke Shyamala' from A Aa. This is the most number of wins in this category by a male singer at the Filmfare Awards (South)


Karthik went past eminent singers K J Yesudas (5 Filmfares) and S P Balasubramaniam (4 Filmfares) with this record breaking win. At the national level, with Kishore Kumar leading with 8 wins; Karthik and Mohammed Rafi share the second position with 6 wins each.

Hitherto Karthik had won the awards for Oru Maalai (Ghajini), Arey Rey (Happy Days), Nijanga Nenena (Kotha Bangaru Lokam), Hasili Fisil (Aadhavan), Usure Poguthey (Raavanan). It's also interesting to note that this is the third Filmfare win for Karthik - Mickey J Meyer combo.

The focus should be on Karthik's work rather than his looks or family

For the past 1-2 years, I've been asked by many a fan the same question(s), “Have you seen Karthik's son? Can you send me his photo if you have one?”. For which I reply, “ Trust me. I don't have a single photo of even Karthik”. Fans who don't share their own pictures on Facebook due to a privacy concern are asking this question. Mind you! Over the years, I've seen fans complaining more about “OMG Is he losing his hair?” and less about “Why isn't Karthik singing a Hindi song?”. (And finally when he got a nice hairdo, some were of the opinion that he shouldn't have done that!) His pictures getting 10X likes than his amazing singing videos hurts my little soul.
