Karthik has won his 6th Best Playback Singer Filmfare Award for "Yellipoke Shyamala' from A Aa. This is the most number of wins in this category by a male singer at the Filmfare Awards (South) Karthik went past eminent singers K J Yesudas (5 Filmfares) and S P Balasubramaniam (4 Filmfares) with this record breaking win. At the national level, with Kishore Kumar leading with 8 wins; Karthik and Mohammed Rafi share the second position with 6 wins each. Hitherto Karthik had won the awards for Oru Maalai (Ghajini), Arey Rey (Happy Days), Nijanga Nenena (Kotha Bangaru Lokam), Hasili Fisil (Aadhavan), Usure Poguthey (Raavanan). It's also interesting to note that this is the third Filmfare win for Karthik - Mickey J Meyer combo.
